I am sure I’m not the only one that is daily dodging anxiety attacks and going completely insane during this time at home.
A month of being stuck in the house with the same people everyday is enough to make me loose my marbles... idk about you. When the grocery store is the highlight of my week I know something is wrong.
My hows are now filled with cooking, cleaning and crafting. All with multiple trips to the kitchen to see if there are any new snacks. Like I really need one.
However, during this time I have some tricks up my sleeve to help you pass the time and most importantly stay sane.
1. Get up and move:
Every single day... multiple times a day. If you fell like a snack get up and take a lap around your house. Go up and down the stairs three times. Be accountable for it. Make a goal that you can keep. Your going to walk a mile each day. Or that you’ll walk the dog every night after dinner. The fresh air and movement will help.
2. Try new recipes:
We all get into such a routine when we are busy to make the same meals over and over again. Now we don’t have an excuse. We have all the time in the world. Look through Pinterest or ask your friends what they cook. Or there are websites you can enter the food you have and it will make up a recipe for you. Make some new normal meals step outside the box. I personally love the at home habatchi idea. https://www.supercook.com/#/ingredients
3. Get crafty:
Find something you can make. Find something to channel some energy. Walk around and take photos. Or like me I’ve turned into an old lady crocheting everything gun sight. Anyways moral of the tip get those creative juices flowing. I found the cutest home decor made from rocks and sticks glued on a piece of wood. You can do it! Even if it’s coloring. Let your mind be free for a few minutes and stop the worry of the world around you.
4. Have girls night:
I have done this a few times already. Open a bottle of wine and FaceTime your friends. You can also Zoom or I like the app HouseParty. Try them all. I told my boyfriend I was going out with the girls. What this really meant?? I was going into craft room to video chat and drink wine. It wasn’t the same but was much needed for my sanity. Do it and do it often. You need to talk about more than what’s for dinner and the kids school work.
5. Cleanse your space:
Now is the time. Pick a project. Organize your home. Clean top to bottom. Go crazy clean the walls. This is so rewarding to see. When this is over youll be thankful you cleaned out the basement. Now you can enjoy your summer because all your housework we all put off is done. Which brings me to my last tip...
6. DO ALL THE THINGS TOU PUT OFF DOING:
We all are guilty so let’s put it out there. There are all things that we need to do but put off as long as possible. For me it’s my student loans. I know I need to call and combine them. But that will be hours on the phone and I don’t want to. But it’s time to.... I’ll thank myself later.
and a side note if you are so des and bored and literally have nothing else to do... watch Tiger King again. I missed a few things the first time...
